Objective and when to use it
Compress when a size limit or slow connection matters. Keep the original so you can compare quality and restore detail if needed.
Recommended flow
- Record the original size and inspect images, text and forms.
- Choose a moderate compression level first.
- Compare representative pages at normal zoom and print size.
- Use a new file name and recheck the upload limit.
Care points
Compression can affect scanned text, fine lines, color and embedded files. Never treat a smaller file as proof that private content was removed.
Checklist
- Original retained
- Text and images still legible
- Forms and links tested
- Final size and privacy reviewed
